Allen Hall Public Relations (AHPR)

Role: Account Executive at AHPR, the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications’ (SOJC’s) student-run PR firm.

My team’s initial client was PRSA Oregon. We worked on contributions to the organization’s blog, wrote media lists and pitches and worked on social strategy and content. After the wake of COVID-19, we started working with the SOJC’s own Communications department to help produce campaign materials to promote the school’s virtual commencement.

Blog Writing

I wrote for both the PRSA Oregon and AHPR”s blogs. Both organizations being communications focused, my posts were about different aspects of public relations.

Two pieces I wrote for the PRSA Oregon blog:

Industry Influence: What’s On the Rise in Communications

Breaking Down the PESO Model

My piece for the AHPR blog:

Why You Should Be Involved In Your School’s PRSSA Chapter

Media Relations

My team and I drafted press releases about PRSA Oregon news together. We used Cision and our own research to make media lists. When the organization was hosting its annual Awards of Distinction, we pitched the story to reporters whose beats tied to our recipients.

Social Content

While on the PRSA Oregon account, we were tasked with creating social mockups and a logo for the organizations yearly event, CommCon. My logo was picked, but the conference ended up being cancelled because of COVID-19.

Here is the logo I designed for CommCon 2020

The SOJC Communications team needed assistance producing social materials. We advised on a content calendar leading up to commencement, created engaging post images (ex: a bingo board), and crafted copy encouraging students and their families to take part in the virtual festivities. I wrote the copy for an email that went to prominent alumni, requesting them to send their own congratulatory messages to graduates.

Let’s build something together.
