Role: Communications and Programs Director for the College Democrats, a club on-campus for students to discuss politics and work on initiatives with local politicians.
I ran the club’s social media pages and managed all club communications for two years. Every week, I sent out information to members about meetings, events and news. I also coordinated with campaigns and people working in local politics to organize any coordination efforts or events.
Social Media
While I managed the College Democrats Instagram (between May 2018 and May 2020), the number of followers went from below 90 to 184 and the average number of likes per post increased 58%.

Communication
I kept club members informed about meeting information and other news, both over social media and email. Oftentimes, we would work with other organizations on campus on events or some type of coalition, and I would coordinate these efforts as well. When a politician reached out to our club and wanted to come to a meeting or we supported someone we wanted to hear more from, I would contact and organize these events.
Meeting Leader
For our weekly meetings, I worked with the rest of the executive board to plan discussion topics and activities. We would make a powerpoint for the outline of the meeting agenda and each take turns leading the meetings. This included announcing news, facilitating discussion and gauging members feelings on different initiatives.
From the time I was elected to the executive board to when I graduated and left the club, membership grew by over 200%. I attribute this to my team’s organization, openness to feedback, and coordination of engaging meetings and events.
